DILEMMAS for the Faithful. #16

NO GETTING AWAY FROM IT:

JESUS was a Jew. The Father had chosen to make His Covenant with the Jews and fulfill it through His Son. We know the story well. The New Covenant in Christ was rejected. But not by all the Jews for Jesus chose Jews to be the leaders of His institutional Church with the command to go out to all nations and preach the good news that mankind had been redeemed from the disorder created by the sin and pride of the first humans. Paul, the Jew, became the great evangelizer. Jesus chose twelve Jewish men as leaders but He also amassed hundreds, if not thousands, of followers [disciples] who gave up their faith of Judaism to become Christians. The first sign that this new faith was intended for all, not just Jewish converts, was Paul's chastisement of Pope Peter for not wanting to break bread with gentiles. Although the Church was established by a Jew and the first members were Jews, Jesus' own condemnations while He walked the earth were overwhelmingly directed at the leaders of the Judaic Faith: Pharisees, Sadducees, Sanhedrin and so on.

So, while one might think that, if the Father had a priority of converts, it was and would remain the Chosen People......the Jews. But then, as Paul would remind the new churches, no longer in this new Christian Church, would there be Jew or Gentile. Thus, with millennia of such history, one might think that today's descendants of the first leaders would place some priority on the conversion of the ethnic peoples whom God Himself had chosen to live out the New Covenant. Wouldn't you? Well, not according to the present leaders of Christ's Church. In case you missed their announcement made just over two years ago ............

"The Vatican’s Commission for Religious Relations with Jews released a document outlining developments in the church’s stance towards Judaism, including that Jews do not need to be converted to Catholicism to find salvation since God did not revoke his covenant with Israel".

So, let that be a lesson for you. Don't believe amateur bloggers like yours truly. The Old Covenant still stands ! I guess then that we remain in waiting for the promised Messiah. Too, I guess it's now a sin to talk to Jews in any fashion that resembles proselytizing or evangelizing. Perhaps that is the reasoning for what you are about to see .........

I BELIEVE THAT WE INDEED HAVE A DILEMMA. MAYBE SOME VERSES WILL HELP ..............

"For he that shall be ashamed of me and of my words, in this adulterous and sinful generation: the Son of man also will be ashamed of him, when he shall come in the glory of his Father with the holy angels." Mk 8:38

"But he that shall deny me before men, I will also deny him before my Father who is in heaven." Mt 10:33

"And Jesus saith to him: Amen I say to thee, to-day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice." Mk 14:30

"But Peter seeing, made answer to the people: Ye men of Israel, why wonder you at this? Or why look you upon us, as if by our strength or power we had made this man to walk? The God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus, whom you indeed delivered up and denied before the face of Pilate, when he judged he should be released. But you denied the Holy One and the Just: and desired a murderer to be granted unto you. But the author of life you killed." Ac 3:12–15
